  Eligibility
The competition is open to all Canadian citizens under 35 years who hold at least one university degree.

 
  Procedure
To be eligible for consideration applications must include the following documents:  
  • one completed application form and four photocopies, collated and stapled;
  • one official transcript of all post-secondary education and four photocopies;
  • two confidential academic references, each consisting of an original and four photocopies, mailed by the referee by January 31, 2008;
  • one confidential employer reference, consisting of an original and four photocopies, mailed by the referee by January 31, 2008; and
  • a $15.00 administrative fee, cheque or money order, payable to the Parliamentary Internship Programme
 
Information for Referees *

The letters supporting applications are given considerable weight in the selection process. The most helpful letters are those that include details of the writer’s basis for judgement and measures the capabilities of the applicant in terms of the criteria applied by the selection committee.

The criteria for selection are academic excellence, demonstrated interest in and knowledge of Canadian parliamentary government and politics, evidence of the skills needed to assist a Member of Parliament in the performance of his or her duties, personal maturity and a basic understanding of both official languages. (The candidate's language skills will be tested at the interview stage).

Please mail one original of your reference letter, plus four photocopies, by January 31, 2008 to the address below. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Application Deadline
All components of the application must be mailed (or submitted electronically, in the case of online applications) no later than January 31, 2008 of the year of the intended internship.

 
Selection Date

The initial selection of candidates to be interviewed by telephone will have been completed no later than the end of March and all candidates will be informed of the decision of the Selection Committee. The final selection of the interns will be completed by the end of April.
